Make Planting a Habit

Every month of July, we are celebrating the Nutrition Month. This is annually celebrated. "Ugaliing Magtanim, Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin." This is the theme for the Nutrition Month 2018. This theme is created by Ms. Julie Ann Q. Colipano, a contestant from Valencia City, Bukidnon. Out of the 142 entries that the contestants submitted from all over the country, this was selected by National Nutrition Council. The central theme surrounds on the idea of family food gardening.

This theme focuses on food production at home through the family's own garden. This is the food planted at home. It aims to improve the healthy food consumption of Filipino food security or to be self-sufficient as possible with backyard gardening. Having food gardens can help improve the family as well as the community's food security. This theme states that we need to plant in our home so that there will be a source of our food. You may also sell the vegetables and fruits as an additional source of income. Not only that, you are safe. You will eat fruits and vegetables which are source of nutrients which our body needs.

In general, the central theme surrounds on the idea of family food gardening. This focuses on food production at home. It's not all about the farmers concerned on the theme, it also concerns us, ordinary people. It concerns to plant on our own garden in our home. We must not only plant but we must also influence others to plant. We need to plant for us to live.
